Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of soft white bread (crusts removed)
- 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for cooking)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin and spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture on one side.
- Roll up the bread tightly, securing the filling inside. Repeat for all slices.
- In another small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
- Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating it evenly, then place it in the skillet seam-side down. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, turning until golden brown. Repeat in batches, adding more butter as needed.
- Once cooked, immediately roll the hot roll-ups in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
- Serve warm with syrup, whipped cream, or fresh fruit if desired.
Notes
- To save time, you can prepare the cream cheese filling the night before.
- For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread instead of white bread.
- Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
