Description

Peach crumble is a delightful dessert that combines sweet, juicy peaches with a crunchy, buttery topping. It’s easier than pie but just as satisfying! Whether you’re using fresh, frozen, or canned peaches, this recipe comes together quickly and is perfect for any occasion. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Peach Filling:

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (or canned peaches, drained)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (for a thicker filling, optional)

For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2: Prepare the Peach Filling

  1. In a large bowl, toss the peaches with sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
  2. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

Step 3: Make the Crumble Topping

  1. In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4: Assemble the Crumble

  1. Spread the peach filling evenly into the greased baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the peaches, covering them completely.

Step 5: Bake

  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling.
  • If the topping browns too quickly, cover it loosely with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  • Let the peach crumble cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use ripe peaches for the best natural sweetness. If they’re too firm, let them ripen at room temperature.
  • Frozen peaches? Thaw and drain them before using to avoid excess liquid.
  • Make it crunchier by adding chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping.
  • Want a stronger flavor? Add a pinch of ground ginger or a splash of bourbon to the peach filling.
  • Make ahead: Prepare the crumble and store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking.
