Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- ⅔ cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen blueberries
For the Blueberry Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon milk (adjust for consistency)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter, vanilla extract, salt, and egg. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll out the dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture and blueberries.
- Roll the dough tightly from the longer side and cut into 12 even rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 22-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the Glaze: Blend blueberries until smooth. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, blueberry puree, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle the blueberry glaze over the warm rolls and serve!
Notes
- For extra gooey rolls, add a tablespoon of heavy cream over the rolls before baking.
- Swap fresh blueberries for frozen ones (do not thaw to prevent excess moisture).
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
